Estimation of shear viscosity based on transverse momentum correlations

چکیده

Event anisotropy measurements at RHIC suggest the strongly interacting matter created in heavy ion collisions flows with very little shear viscosity. Precise determination of “shear viscosityto-entropy” ratio is currently a subject of extensive study [1]. We present preliminary results of measurements of the evolution of transverse momentum correlation function with collision centrality of Au + Au interactions at √ sNN = 200 GeV. We compare two differential correlation functions, namely inclusive [2] and a differential version of the correlation measure C̃ introduced by Gavin et.al. [1, 3]. These observables can be used for the experimental study of the shear viscosity per unit entropy.

Measuring shear viscosity using transverse momentum correlations in relativistic nuclear collisions.

Elliptic flow measurements at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider suggest that quark-gluon fluid flows with very little viscosity compared to weak-coupling expectations, challenging theorists to explain why this fluid is so nearly "perfect." It is therefore vital to find quantitative experimental information on the viscosity of the fluid. We propose that measureme...

Wavevector- and frequency-dependent shear viscosity of water: the modified collective mode approach and molecular dynamics calculations

The transverse momentum time autocorrelation functions and wavevectorand frequency-dependent shear viscosity are calculated for an interaction site model of water using a modified collective mode approach and molecular dynamics simulations. The modified mode approach is based on a formulation which consistently takes into account non-Markovian effects into the kinetic memory kernels. As is demo...

Using Intelligent Methods and Optimization of the Existing Empirical Correlations for Iranian Dead Oil Viscosity

Numerous empirical correlations exist for the estimation of crude oil viscosities. Most of these correlations are not based on the experimental and field data from Iranian geological zone. In this study several well-known empirical correlations including Beal, Beggs, Glasso, Labedi, Schmidt, Alikhan and Naseri were optimized and refitted with the Iranian oil field data. The results showed that ...

Causal viscous hydrodynamics in 2 + 1 dimensions for relativistic heavy-ion collisions

We explore the effects of shear viscosity on the hydrodynamic evolution and final hadron spectra of Cu + Cu collisions at ultrarelativistic collision energies, using the newly developed (2 + 1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic code VISH2+1. Based on the causal Israel-Stewart formalism, this code describes the transverse evolution of longitudinally boost-invariant systems without azimuthal symme...

Estimation of Gas Mixture Compressibility Factor and Viscosity based on AI and Experimental DataEstimation of Gas Mixture Compressibility Factor and Viscosity based on AI and Experimental Data

Compressibility factor and viscosity of natural gasses are of great importance in petroleum and chemical engineering. To calculate the natural gas properties in the pipelines, storage systems and reservoirs, the exact values of gas compressibility factor and viscosity are required. A new method that allows accurate determination of compressibility factor and gas viscosity for all types of: swee...
